Avandia regulates high blood sugar levels in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes by working to restore the body’s proper response to insulin. It is used with proper diet and exercise or in combination with other medications to improve the body’s glucose levels. Avandia is available under the generic name Rosiglitazone.
Avandia is taken orally as often as prescribed by the doctor, usually 1-2 times a day with or without meals. The dosage takes into consideration the body’s glucose level and reception to the treatment.
Take the Avandia at the same time everyday with water. In the case of missing a dose, take it as soon as remembered unless close to the next scheduled dose. Otherwise, skip the missed dose and continue the regular dosing schedule. Avoid double dosing or making up for missed doses as the body has to get used to the consistent regulation of the blood glucose levels. Rosiglitazone must be swallowed whole- do not break or chew tablet.
Follow any other instructions specified by your doctor or indicated on the prescription label.
