Alphagan P eye drops contain the generic ingredient called brimonidine which belongs to the class of medications called alpha-2-adrenergic receptor agonists. This medication is used to control the pressure inside the eyeball in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

When the fluid, or aqueous humour, inside the eyes does not drain out normally, pressure increases inside the eyeball that can lead to damage to the optic nerve. Alphagan P work by reducing the amount of fluid that the eye produces as well as increasing the draining of the fluid.
Place one drop of Alphagan P in each eye, three times daily, about eight hours apart. Close your eye for 30 seconds after application. If you use this glaucoma medication with other eye drops, wait at least five minutes between doses.
